This machine pieced and appliqued quilt was made by me for the Museum of American Quilting "New Quilts from an Old Favorite" annual contest. It was chosen as one of 18 finalists from hundreds of world-wide entries, so was featured in a chapter in the book published about the exhibit by Schroeder Publishing. It traveled to many museum and quilt show venues for a period of two years.
The design is of a deconstructed puzzle made from 54 nine-Patches. The viewer was challenged to find them all. I pieced the basic parts using a full-sized drawing as a pattern. The fabric is primarily Dupioni silk in blues, greens, orange, yellow and black. The pieces were then appliqued onto the background with space between them, emphasizing the puzzle aspect. I machine quilted it on a large domestic machine in an original plaid pattern and did the finishing by hand. It is ready to hang and become the new focal point in your home.
It is in perfect condition and measures 48" by 48". Please contact me with any questions.
